Over the past couple of months, Dave (DC Dalton), Josh (Bleys) and myself have been planning and working on launching GFXContests.com as what we hope will become a premier website for holding or entering graphic and web design related contests. Our hope is to create an environment where people can conduct and participate in quality contests.
Over the coming weeks and months we will be ramping up GFXContests.com and adding new features and capabilities. To keep everyone abreast of what is coming we will periodically update this thread with our planned schedule.
2006-01-09: DC Dalton posted a contest in the
Sitepoint forums soliciting entries for our official logo and header graphic. This contest is scheduled to run for 10 days.
2006-01-15: Within the next few days I hope to implement an RSS feed so that members can find out about new contests without needing to hover over this forum. I'm sure most designers will be like us and will already have more than their fair share of forums to monitor, so I hope the RSS feeds will make it easier to participate in contests here.
2006-01-15: In the next few days we also hope to post a more clear operational plan as to how GFXContests.com will work and what our business plan is. We will also try to get our privacy policy and terms of service posted as soon as possible. In regards to the forth coming privacy policy, it is suffice to say for now that we have no intention of selling or sharing your email address with third-parties nor do we intend to spam folks ourselves.
2006-01-19: We will select the winning design and work with the winner to finalize the graphic. We hope to have the graphic in use before the end of January.
2006-01-25: Once we have the final logo in place we will begin a marketing push to get word out about this forum and seriously work on attracting contest holders.
2006-02: To start getting contests rolling we will announce another in house contest in the beginning of Febuary to build upon the logo we choose at the Sitepoint forum.
